From the President...
The Wellesley Club of Sarasota is a very active and involved group with a very high participation rate. Our members drive to meetings from a wide geographic area and we welcome visitors in town for a week or a month to join us. We meet most months during the season, usually for a luncheon featuring a speaker on a topic of interest. To meet everyone’s needs, we plan at least one evening meeting a year, and we offer more casual summer gatherings to help alumnae stay connected.
In addition to the traditional speaker luncheons, we have a very popular book group. This gives members an opportunity to read a democratically selected book and enjoy lunch and a lively exchange of ideas. It is also a wonderful way for club members to become more closely connected.
Our most recent focus has been on community service, and we’re enthusiastic about developing our relationship with the Mothers and Infants Program of Sarasota. For the past two years we have provided generous support at the holidays.
Our Ivy League Admissions Fair is another outreach endeavor that relies on volunteers, especially recent graduates, who can discuss Wellesley enthusiastically with prospective students. This is a one-time commitment, on a Saturday, and ideal for those who work or have families.
Our goal is to help all local alumnae stay connected with one another, with the Sarasota community and with Wellesley College. We’d love to see you become involved in the Sarasota Club however it suits you. Check out the web site for our events and our email newsletter to learn more about our club.
We hope to see you soon,
Allison Opal ’88, Club President
